Emma Mower is a resident artist at Hadleigh Old Fire Station. On Saturday 13th February 2016, I was invited to a private viewing of her latest exhibition at the Beecroft Art Gallery in Southend.
Emma’s work is ideally suited to the stark, industrial style architecture found in Southend’s old library, now the Beecroft; setting and artwork combine to provide a unified experience for the visitor.
Emma says of her work:
‘The discarded and often overlooked in our daily environments are important to me. The structures I see and the objects that I find are constantly rediscovered in my work. I am fascinated by the lines, shapes, fragments and surfaces that form the basis of our urban and domestic surroundings and form the compositions that contribute to the geometry of our everyday lives.’
