As part of the Hadleigh Art Trail artists at Hadleigh Old Fire Station (HOFS) opened their studios to the general public for one weekend. They also provided a children’s art workshop. The event was a great success.
Here are just some of the comments taken from the Visitors’ Book over the weekend:
- Something everyone can share
- Needed to be advertised — big banners would help
- Excellent to see art and creativity in Hadleigh
- Brilliant use of the Fire Station
- Brilliant to have a place like this in Hadleigh
- Incredible use of the building — really great artists
- More exhibitions coming?
- Fab — great to see inside studios
- About time too
- Good to see so many people interested in the Old Fire Station and Art Trail
- This is Real Hadleigh regeneration
- Best thing to happen in Hadleigh for ages
- Pity shop venues were closed (on Sunday)
- Lovely — keep this space please — makes Hadleigh lovely
- Loved chatting to the artists — enjoyed seeing the studios
I found visiting the artists’ studios a real delight. I was amazed at the variety of styles and materials used by the HOFS residents. The use of oils, acrylics, watercolours, canvas, paper, metal and film were all evident. I was particularly attracted to the bright, bold work of Hashim Akib.
