  • Robert,

I am an avid follower of Bernard Cornwell and his books, especially ‘The Warlord Chronicles’ which are set in and around Benfleet and Thundersley.

In one of his books he mentions a standing stone, as tall as a man and with a hole through it. This stone, he assures me, stood near St. Peters Church in Thundersley and was there when he was a boy.

I have searched the area extensively and can find no trace of such a stone.

Have you seen it or do you know anyone else who has?

    Thank you.
