Open Day In Hadleigh; 15th March 2011

The Old Fire-Station looks the same on the outside, but enter the smart new door and a bright office with sliding window greets you.
On the west side, a corridor has been installed. This gives access to stairs to the upper floors where you find several rooms of various sizes.
The rooms have had uses suggested such as artists’ studios and meeting rooms for community groups.
A potential use for a councillor to hold a neighbourhood surgery is also being considered.

Applications are being considered for the role of managing tenant.

Inside what used to be the appliance bay, display boards around the perimeter exhibited various pictures.
At 4 pm, a gymnastic group were exercising on their mats. This had warmed up the place nicely for the tour with Jason of the Olympic delivery group.
When asked how the building could be involved in preparations and the running of the Olympic events, Jason said the building will be equipped with Wifi and thus ideal for its envisaged use as a Press centre.
The Hadleigh and Thundersley Community Archive would also be able to continue the work underway in Hadleigh Library, where we scan and upload documents and pictures; linking these to text and sound recordings to create a living archive, thus fulfilling our aim of informing tomorrow by making history today.
