The Country Park Blooms

Early April 2020: one of the "Lockdown" articles

Yellow Deadnettle = Yellow Archangel = Yellow weasel's snout
The fragrant bluebell {Hyacinthoides non-scripta}

Yellow deadnettle is also known as Yellow Archangel and is listed as Lamiastrum galeobdolon.  The distinctive smell from crushed leaves of Yellow Archangel is the source of its specific name  galeobdolon, which means ‘smelling like a weasel’.
Flowering rather early this year.
A nice lady pointed out the Yellow Archangels to me (from a socially safe distance.)

The native fragrant bluebell, Hyacinthoides non-scripta, (with, unsurprisingly,  bell-shaped, blue flowers) is also turning in a dramatic show in the Country Park and local woods.
