Visit the studios to see the works of art before they become famous

During the Open Studios weekend, on Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th August, the Archive will open Studio 13 for free 2pm-4pm visits to see recent pictures.

Studio 13 is conveniently located on the ground floor, through the Appliance Hall.

On Monday 27th August 2018 (Bank Holiday Monday) 6.30 for 7pm start ’til 9pm, H&TCA will run a FREE LOCAL HISTORY SHOW & BOOK LAUNCH in the HOFS Appliance Hall   

The evening will include…

“The Choppens” introduced with a short  slide show by the author, Bob Delderfield.

. . . LOCAL INTEREST VIDEOS & SLIDES

Videos, slides of local interest and recently acquired pictures of events in this area from the last 100 years.
Including:
– SEEVIC students “views” of Hadleigh Castle back in the 14th Century.

 The overall  HOFS  Open Studio programme  runs from Friday 24 – Monday 27 August 2018; an “OPEN WEEKEND – HADLEIGH OLD FIRE STATION” as part of the 10th anniversary Essex Summer of Art.
Showcasing the fantastic activities and creative work at HOFS.  Inspiration and Involvement from pop-up cinema, community choir, and artist-led workshops, to jazz and local history sessions.

Most activities are FREE, suitable for all ages (children under 16 need to be accompanied).

 We’ve teamed up with Seaside Circus whose mission is to show how circus can be used to encourage focus, co-ordination, self confidence, communication, creativity, body awareness and more.

Friday 24 August 2018 6.30 for 7pm start
The popular Pop-up Cinema evening returns with two local interest short films – (total running time 10mins)  followed by the big feature.

OPEN STUDIOS 2018  Come in and have a wander round our artist and community group studios. See the great work created by our resident artists. Stop and chat or be inspired to have a go in our artist-led workshops and taster sessions exploring different media (see below for session details and times).

Studios are located in the main building (entrance via the Appliance Hall) and in HOFS Art House – across the car park adjacent to the main building.  Please note: Some studios are on upper floors,  only accessible via stairs.

10am – 5pm daily EXHIBITION OF ARTISTS’ WORK: Saturday 25 – Monday 27 August 2018

FREE ENTRY, no booking required:  resident artists’ work on display through the Open Weekend in the Appliance Hall, where the fire engines used to be.
Many of the works will be for sale along with art cards and prints, all at affordable prices.   More work by each artist including work in progress can be seen in the artist’s studios – studios are open to the public during the Open Weekend – pop in and say “hello”!

Get inspired with our HOFS’ artist-led workshops and taster sessions  they’re FREE and no booking is required, just drop in.
(Children under 16 need to be accompanied).

Sunday 26 August Appliance Hall
  11am-12noon – KID’S ART WORKSHOP  Led by Marie Antoniou
  12noon-1.30pm – ZINE WORKSHOP    Learn about the origin and creation of zines, led by Lu Williams
  2pm-3.30pm – PAINTING WORKSHOP     Introduction to painting techniques, taster session       Led by Susan Clare, 

COMMUNITY ART INSTALLATION ‘FrameWork’  Led by Sally Chinea and volunteers from Open Arts – get creative and contribute to our large-scale community artwork being created over the Open Weekend, Ground Floor Studio, rear of HOFS Art House & car park – continues Monday 27 August.

Monday 27 August 2018 (Bank Holiday Mon)   11am – 4pm  Bank Holiday Monday is our Community Day.  FREE ENTRY – community stalls, live music, bouncy castle, refreshments, vintage fire engine, community art installation, a special Local History Event and much more.

Family fun and refreshments will be available. It’s a chance to find out about all the fantastic things to get involved in locally. It’s going to be a great day!
