A few years ago I photographed White Watch for a feature in Essex Life magazine, not realising that so very soon the picture would be history.
But it was back in about 1983 that Benfleet Camera Club was invited to Hadleigh Fire Station on an open day (Red Watch on duty) to photograph the station and some of the activities and equipment in it. As a member of BCC, I went along…

We have had an enquiry from Brian – – was the new part of the Fire Station (e.g. the engine bay facing North/South) added about 1966?
I can remember as a boy, just after the Fire Station was built, looking into the front doors at the old Fire Engine with bell and folding ladders, and seeing all the brass helmets, polished and ready for use.
