Towards the Causeway 1927

Over Victoria House Corner

Hadleigh, The Causeway or London Road

Back in 1927, Bob Bingham’s father took this evocative photograph during his  joy-ride in a biplane.

Putting the technology to its limit, we are lucky to see this result from his hand-held ‘Box Brownie’ looking east along the A13, London Road, also known at the time as “The Causeway.”

From our vantage point over Victoria House Corner;  we see to the left of The Causeway that Arcadian Gardens has not yet been built but the large white object is, of course,  the Bus Garage which is still there.

If any of our other readers have equivalent pictures,  even if not from 95 years ago, we would happily scan and return your photos.  We can either add to this article or make new articles  to help complete the aerial scene over Hadleigh,  Thundersley and Daws Heath and will credit the reader.
