Bird Aware Essex Coast

Hadleigh Library has a copy of the Consultation on the Essex Coast RAMS and there are some forms on which to submit comments by 5 pm Friday 21st February 2020.

Recreational disturbance Avoidance and Mitigation Strategy = RAMS
The Essex Coast RAMS has recently become Bird Aware Essex Coast https://essexcoast.birdaware.org/home

The RAMS provides a strategy to mitigate the disturbance of internationally significant protected wildlife environments caused by the building of new residential dwellings within the “zone of influence” of the coastal sites.

The draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) provides guidance on how the Essex Coast RAMS affects developments. In summary: the mitigation could be a payment of £122.30* per dwelling built between 2019 and 2038 (73 thousand planned in relevant areas) to equate to a present-day valuation of mitigation costs totalling £8.9 million over that period.

The consultation portal is at

from which information resources and the on-line survey are available.

*Mitigation of £122.30 to be index linked from a 2019/2020 start point.
