Solby Wood Farm New Housing Development
Lockdown Walk 2020
Not so much a walk as pictures of the housing development at Solby Wood in Spring 2020 with some comparison photographs from 2018 and 2019. With a large Brown & Brand Estate Agent’s sign in Hadleigh, Rectory Road car park in 2020 saying “Solby Wood – Phase 4 now released,” I was curious. I asked three workmen where ‘Phase Four’ was and none of them could help or knew what I meant. It didn’t look like many more houses had been added since 2019 but they looked more finished and some are now occupied.
These are quality houses by Argent the builders, all individual with detached, semi detached and with various options on bedrooms etc. The brick work is nice, one house has a weather-board finish.
As you enter from Daws Heath Road, you will be pleased to see the field on the immediate left has been landscaped and not built on. Continue round a sweeping bend, Solby Wood Farm house is on the left and stands back from the new road. Signage is now in place; Solby Wood, Solby Wood View and Solby Wood Place, the later being two closes. These are roads with no kerbs or pavements, it’s ‘shared space’ style.
Properties in Wyburn Road that are south facing look at the new properties from their gardens, but at a reasonable distance, some properties in Daws Heath Road have them closer. However, there was a local consultation.
The overall impression is of houses quite near each other. These are personal views as you may like this style of development. They are certainly nice quality houses.
