Photo ID for voting at polling stations

Received 23rd February 2023 from Castle Point Electoral Services

{ From 4 May 2023, you must present photo ID when voting at a polling station. You will only need to show one form of photo ID.

It needs to be the original version and not a photocopy.   You can still use your photo ID if it’s out of date, as long as it looks like you.
The name on your ID should be the same name you used to register to vote.
Accepted forms of photo ID include passport and driving licence. Detailed information about the new requirements for 4 May 2023 including the full list of accepted photo ID can be found at https://www.castlepoint.gov.uk/voter-id

If you do not have any acceptable photo ID you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate at https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate. For the election on Thursday 4 May 2023 the deadline to submit an application for a Voter Authority Certificate is Tuesday 25 April 2023 at 5.00pm.

You do not need photo ID if you vote by post. Find out more about postal voting and how to apply at https://www.castlepoint.gov.uk/other-ways-to-vote.
