Haircut, Brylcreem and close shave in Hadleigh

Another shop passed to history.
Yesterday (Wednesday, 24th September 2025)  I went to have my usual trim at the old barber shop in Hadleigh but there it wasn’t anymore, just a shell destined to be an “Art shop” .

I am sure many will remember the place as “Stan’s” Stan Royce to be more precise. He and his shop were a fixture in the town as long as I can remember.  As a lad my dad would take me for a short back and sides;  when I needed to sit on a board straddled across the big chair.
I know Stan has long gone but the shop interior hadn’t really changed that much over the years.
I can remember my dad buying one razor blade, having a hot towel treatment and of course the “Anything for the weekend, Sid?”quietly whispered in the ear;  but times move on and good luck to the new people in this new venture.
I am 78 years old now and certainly don’t need anything for the weekend any more but will miss my visit and a chat to Linda and any other customers.
