Open Studios: HOFS Oct 2024

HOFS Open Studios Weekend

Saturday 5th – Sunday 6th  October 2024   was a great success,  excellent footfall and discussions between visitors,  artists and the in-house Community Archive.

Hadleigh Old Fire Station was open from 10am to 4pm, and encouraged many from this area and further afield to see our creatives in their studios and to chat to them about their work. Their work featured in a smartly curated Art Exhibition in the Appliance Hall, also featuring CAOS participating artists. There were workshops, demos and a map room over the weekend.

Participating artists and groups included: 2Create, Alan Hockett, Amanda Jackson, David Hurrell, David Nelson, Emma Mower, Hadleigh & Thundersley Community Archive, Ingrid Thorpe, James French, Juliet Bryson, Phil Bradshaw, Sally Chinea, Simon Cox, Studio Cotiere.

Many visitors and artists sat to absorb that unique gallery atmosphere at the pop-up cafe which served delicious cakes, tea & coffee.  The home-made cakes were works of art in their own right!

It was not just about the weekend;  in the following days we are encouraged to look out in the “socials” for more details on Workshops, Film Screenings, Talks and Local History events.

And of course …
@castlepointopenstudios – check out Creatives in their own home studios from Saturday 28 September to 13 October. See the CAOS dedicated webpage for more information – trail map, event listing and participants.

HOFS’ Open Studios is part of a CastlePoint Artists Open Studios (CAOS) event.

Thursday 10th October, from 2pm to 4 pm there will be a Local History afternoon with very short slide shows and a chance to pool our knowledge of connections and history in the area – ideal for residents “new and existing.”   Link to the Local History afternoon.
