Argosy Stores, historically

We may be surprised that this quiet road is now known as the A13.
In the distance are the woodlands on Bread and Cheese Hill.

To the immediate right is a pre-first world war building once called Argosy Stores which is still in use in 2022.  As pictured, the proprietor was C J Fox, Newsagent and Bookseller.

The Argosy was a general stores but has also been a newsagent’s, a bookshop and a tea shop.   There is more about the evolution of the Argosy here.

Those of you who enjoy a traditional Malaysian meal will know it today as Malaya.
