This is one of several parties held in Hadleigh to celebrate the end of WW2 hostilities in Europe. In Britain, the allied victory was announced on the evening of Tuesday 7th May 1945. The following day – Wednesday 8th May – was declared a national holiday, known as Victory in Europe (VE) Day, and parties were held all over the country on VE Day and on succeeding days.
