This is one of several parties held in Hadleigh to celebrate the end of hostilities in Europe during WW2. In Britain, the allied victory was announced on the evening of Tuesday 7th May 1945. The following day – Wednesday 8th May – was declared a national holiday, known as Victory in Europe (VE) Day, and parties were held all over the country on VE Day and over succeeding days.
This party is believed to have been held in the Chapel Lane area. If you can identify the precise location then please leave a comment or send an e-mail to admin@hadleighhistory.org.uk.
