A glance into Hadleigh’s past. The Salvation Army brickfield crew that dug the clay in c.1937. In charge was David Tanser Dawson, the handsome hat-less smoker in the photo. It was his task to barrow their diggings, which meant he was better paid. Job description was a ‘Bell Horse’. The historic photo was supplied by Mr Dawson’s son David Dawson and passed on with thanks to Roger Shinn. Do you recognise any of the others?
