Jane Chalk? 1917

Is this Jane Chalk?
Carrie???

Can anyone help me? My father was Derek Howard, son of William James Howard. My father’s grandmother was Jane Chalk. I would like to know if the older lady in the photo is Jane Chalk. The writing on the back reads ‘Mother and Carrie 1917’ and ‘Mrs C Howard your grandma’. I would love to know who they are as we have had the photo since the early 1960s.

[It would seem, from Ancestry records, that the older lady in the photo could well be Jane (née Chalk) aged about 53, who became  Mrs C(harles) Howard when she married into the Howard family (later of Rayleigh Road, Thundersley) in 1884. I am sure that the author would be most grateful if anyone could definitely confirm this – Ed]

  • Hi Debbie, so lovely to hear from another relation that I didn’t know I had – and so close too.
Would you be able to tell me who ‘Carrie’, the young woman in the photo is? I am desperate to know.
